The Western Pennsylvania Humane Society has a multitude of volunteer opportunities to fit the lifestyles, skills and desires of compassionate people like you. One (or more!) of these opportunities will surely satisfy your need to make a difference in our community, and all directly benefit the animals in our care.
You will learn new skills, make new friends (two- and four-legged!) and perhaps even update your resume to include your volunteer experience. Our minimum age to volunteer is 16, but we encourage families with children 12 years of age and older to volunteer together. We also have opportunities for groups, and can customize volunteer projects especially for your time schedule and preferences. Check out the Opportunities page on our Volunteer Menu to see current volunteer positions needed and ongoing opportunities at the shelter. To get started . . . Submit your volunteer application online or at the shelter, and review the scheduled New Volunteer Orientation dates. Call 412 321-4625 x 221 or email chris.whyle@wpahumane.org to request an orientation date that best suits your schedule. Make sure to mention the Orientation (dog, cat, or bunny) you wish to attend. You will receive a confirmation if the orientation date you’ve chosen is still open. If not, we will email you a list of future orientations with available spaces. Please do not attend an orientation without prior confirmation! Fill out your application today . . . we can’t wait to meet you and introduce you to our wonderful animals! |
